Physical Therapy

My philosophy in physical therapy is to find the source of my client’s pain, symptoms and functional limitations. I use clinical reasoning and differential diagnosis to help narrow down their musculoskeletal diagnosis. I very seldom just treat one body part or joint, but rather, I treat all the regions contributing to the client’s complaints. Once I find the “driver(s)” or the source(s) of the symptoms, it typically results in quicker and longer lasting relief and/or resolution of symptoms.

My assessment and treatment approaches typically begins with a thorough history, observations/analysis, and manual therapy. Manual therapy is the use of hands to assess and localize the lesion to a joint, ligament, nerve, fascia, and/or muscle(s). Treatment techniques include manual therapy (the use of hands to perform joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, and therapeutic massage) to reduce pain and at the same time continue to assess these regions, restore joint motion, improve flexibility and motility of nerves, fasicia, and muscles.

The next crucial piece is education. I believe the more my patient understands what I am doing and what it takes to support healing in their body, gives my client more control in their wellness and rehabilitative journey. Therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, movement analysis, body mechanics and ergonomics are all part the home program I give to my clients. My other treatment techniques can also include, taping, wrapping, cupping, shoe education and Craniosacral therapy. Each session ends with answering questions, clarifying information, and summarizing the findings of the session.

Every body has different strengths, weaknesses, and needs. I meet you where you are today, striving to provide an environment of acceptance, understanding, kindness and inclusivity.
